In 2023, we took over the mainenance of the WFYI public radio, TV and news building’s rooftop garden in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. After falling into disarray, due to lack of upkeep, the building owners looked for a roofing company to maintain their existing green roof.

Broadcasting PBS and NPR for the Indianapolis and surrounding markets, the original intent of installing the green roof was for “soundproofing” above their studios, located directly beneath the green roof system. The building provides a meadow type environment within the Indianapolis city scape. This roof is enjoyed by tenants within the higher floors of the WFYI building.

Just like a home lawn, green roofs require upkeep and maintenance to sustain a healthy system. R. Adams partnered with the original installation company to gain insights on the installed system and worked with them, removing over 30 trash bags of weeds and trash in the process, to bring the rooftop meadow back to life.
