This was not a typical reroofing project. Beginning mid-2020, supply chains saw huge disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and roofing materials were no exception. So when the school needed a new roof, we all had to be flexible with scheduling.
Partnering with school administrators and a consultant group, R. Adams worked around scheduling challenges to complete the project with minimal impact on student classes, for example starting tear off at 10 pm and working until 4 am, then roofing from 4 am to 7:30 am. It was a lot of extra work, but our team performed without complaint.
In addition to scheduling and supply issues, the old built up roof contained asbestos, which had to be contained and disposed of with care and according to environmental regulations.
Overall, this project consisted of 12 roofs, encompassing 106,000 square feet. In addition to the roofs, work included sheet metal work, cooping, counter flashing, skirting, drain replacement, and two access ladders.
